He developed an on-line course in Writing a Short Film (with C & CS) which ran in Semester 1, 2005.

Before coming to Curtin University of Technology, John worked as Director of the Australian International Documentary Conference, directing the conference held in Perth in February 2004, and prior to that was Development Officer for the ABC.
