John is a lecturer in Construction Management in the Faculty of Built Environment, Art & Design. John trained as a Building Surveyor in the UK and continued to practise Building Surveying for eight years in Western Australia.
John is a qualified Building Surveyor and a Member of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors.
John commenced work with the City of Stirling in 1991 and finished as the Principal Building Surveyor some four years later where he went on to be the Manager of Building Services at the City of Bayswater for another four years. From there he moved onto Curtin University and now lectures in Structures, Building Surveying and Technology subjects. His research interest is performance-based building codes which was the subject of his Masters Degree.
As an active member of many committees for the AIBS over the years, John continues his association with industry through the development of Building Surveying qualifications and indeed represents Curtin on the Building Surveyors Qualification Committee.
John Developed the Graduate Diploma in Building Surveyor to assist previously TAFE qualified students to upgrade their qualifications through a recognised university degree.
Research Interests
John's research interests focus on Performance Based Building Codes. He is presently completing a Masters of Science at Curtin University on this subject. In order to maintain a high quality of teaching and learning, John also maintains continuing research into areas of teaching practice.
