Niall Lucy is co-director (with Prof. Mark Balnaves) of the Centre for Culture & Technology. He is a former Head of the School of Arts at Murdoch University, where he taught for many years in the Literature, Philosophy and Communication Studies programs.

Research Interests

Deconstruction; postmodernism; literary theory; cultural studies; media studies; popular culture; American literature; eighteenth-century literature and philosophy; Australian literature; Australian politics and media; public English.

I would be happy to consider PhD supervisions in any of these or related areas.

Research Projects

Currently writing The Ballad of Moondyne Joe (with John Kinsella) (Fremantle Press); A Dictionary of Postmodernism (Wiley-Blackwell); The Disorder of Things: Understanding Post-structuralism (Wiley-Blackwell); and editing (with Robert Briggs) Vectors of Derrida: Essays on Specters of Marx (Northwestern UP.

Member of the consultancy board for Derrida Today; member of the editorial boards of Fibreculture Journal and Cultural Studies Review (and former member of the editorial boards of Continuum and Social Semiotics).

Awards

My book with Steve Mickler, The War on Democracy: Conservative Opinion in the Australian Press, was shortlisted for the Gleebooks Cultural Theory prize at the 2008 NSW Premier's Literary Awards.
