Nancy Spanbroek is a full-time Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture + Interior Architecture. Nancy teaches design and theory in the undergraduate program where she combines her extensive practise experience in interior design with her teaching. Nancy has worked in leading design practises both nationally and internationally and her role as Associate Director has allowed her to gain a broad range of experience within all levels of the design practise. Her specialty as a designer exists in both the retail and corporate fields of practise.
With 30 years’ professional experience Nancy has a broad and deep understanding of interior design and architecture practice. She has maintained networks in the profession internationally and keeps abreast of world trends through international student field trips and conference attendance.
Nancy’s involvement in active research, supervision of honours students, and the writing/discussion of papers keeps her current in the discipline of interior design/architecture and informs her teaching and the course structure.
Research Interests
Her research interests cover a broad field from creative design practice to the pragmatics in design for accessible housing.
