Assoc. Prof. Frid is the WA Hub Coordinator for the National Centre of Science, ICT and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR). She is the editor of Cross Section, the journal of the Mathematical Association of Western Australia. In 2005, Dr Frid and Dr Len Sparrow (as the Mathematics Education team) were national winners for the Australian Awards for University Teaching. They are also editors of Mathematics Teacher Education and Development, an international journal published by the Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia.
Assoc. Prof. Frid is a lecturer in mathematics education, with experience at all levels of mathematics education, from early childhood through to primary, secondary and tertiary teaching. As well as teaching and curriculum development work in both Canada and Australia, she has been involved in pre-service and in-service teacher education in Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. She has also worked with teachers from Indonesia, Bhutan, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Hong Kong.

- Western Australian Focus Groups for the National Survey in Science, ICT and Mathematics Education (DEST funded, 2005);
- Coordinator for the Western Australian Hub of SiMERR, the National Centre for Science, ICT and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (DOTARS funded, 2005-2007);
- Numeracy across the curriculum (DEST funded, 2002-2003; in conjunction with the Centre for Learning, Change and Development, Murdoch University);
- Home-School-Community partnerships in numeracy (DEST funded, 2002-2003; through a University of Queensland coordinated consortium);
- Mathematics teaching portfolios (2002 onwards; Dr Frid and Dr Sparrow);
- Developing professional portfolios to serve staff and students as a technology for reflective practice in teacher education (University of New England funded, 1999, Dr Frid and Dr J. Reid);
- Development and implementation of a virtual mathematics enrichment course for primary students (University of New England, 1999; Dr Frid and H. Smith).
