Teaching and Learning in Humanities

In Humanities we promote and support continuous improvement in learning and teaching in the Faculty, through the Faculty and School Teaching and Learning Committees implement ing relevant University and Faculty strategic initiatives, managing Faculty learning and teaching support structures, liaising between central and Faculty learning and teaching bodies, and representing the Faculty at relevant University forums. Humanities maintains a high student satisfaction rate (>80%) and many of our staff have received awards for excellence in teaching.

As Dean of Teaching and Learning I represent the Faculty on University committees, provide strategic advice to the PVC Humanities and DVC Education, monitor and evaluate Faculty teaching and learning performance in line with Faculty and University strategic plans, monitor and provide support and guidance pertaining to course development, teaching and learning, and the C2010 Comprehensive Course Reviews, co-ordinate the Excellence in Teaching Awards and prepare responses to Level III plagiarism, academic misconduct, appeals and other matters on behalf of the Faculty.

  1. Teaching and Learning Handbook is an essential starting point and guide to anyone involved in helping students to learn at Curtin and ensuring Curtin students have high quality learning experiences.
  2. The Assessment and Progression Manual and contains all the policies and procedures related to assessment and student progression at Curtin.
  3. Academic Integrity Website outlines Curtin's procedures for dealing with plagiarism. Both the student and staff booklets are found at this website.
