311924 Narrating Selves 101 Narratives underpin a range of cultural artefacts. This unit explores key elements of narrative construction such as story and narration; time and space; narrating perspective and voice. It also examines the ways in which their elements function in relation to audiences and their social contexts.
311925 Senses of Place 100 The study of senses of place interrogates our understandings of identity, of home, of belonging and of not belonging. Places, our daily places, the places of our memories or our imaginings, are imbued with cultural, symbolic, collective and individual meanings, they are where we make and unmake community, they are the spaces within which we imagine, make and live our lives.
311926 Communicating with Asia: Languages and Societies 100 This unit is designed to promote awareness of the variations in communication patterns in different Asian cultures, and to enhance the ability to communicate more effectively with Asia. It covers the main East Asian societies - Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese and Korean, and explores the relationships between culture and language/behaviour, and potential cross-cultural communication problems that may arise from the differences between Asian and Australian societies.
311927 The Design Experience 100 Design is a fundamental human activity that is conducted in many varied ways.
