CELTA Entry Requirements
All applications are subject to Curtin University's Equal Opportunity Policy.
Applicants must:
- be at least 18 years of age
- have an awareness of language and a competence in both written and spoken English which will enable them to undertake the course and prepare for teaching a range of levels
- have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers and to complete successfully the written assignments and the assessment of practice teaching
Applicants should normally have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education.
Interview
Subject to meeting the entry requirements, you will be called for an interview shortly after your application has been received. Curtin English Language Centre must be satisfied that the course is suitable for you in terms of your experience, background and career plans. As the course is very intensive, you must be able to show that you can commit the appropriate time and energy. Soon after your interview you will be notified of the outcome by email.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Under certain circumstances, up to two units of advanced standing will be granted to applicants for the Graduate Certificate and Diploma in TESOL for successful completion of CELTA.
