Postgraduate Study
Graduate Certificate courses (six months full-time or equivalent part-time study) develop skills in a specialised area that may or may not be directly related to that of an undergraduate degree. Graduate Certificates are designed for both graduates and individuals with no academic qualifications, but significant work experience.
The Graduate Diploma is a specialised, vocationally orientated award of one year's full-time or equivalent part-time duration. Entry is normally based on a bachelor degree or diploma although exceptions may be made for applicants with appropriate work experience.
Postgraduate Diploma programs assist graduates to advance their expertise in the field in which they have majored at an undergraduate level. Emphasis is on developing a greater depth and breadth of knowledge and skills through advanced studies of methods, theories and strategies. The programs maintain a vocational emphasis through strong links with practitioners.
The Master by Coursework award (2 years full-time or equivalent part-time) enables graduates to expand their practical skills and knowledge in their area of expertise. Most coursework programs also have a research component and offer the combined result of an enhancement of practical knowledge as well as the building of research skills.
The Professional Master programs are designed for professionals who wish to further their knowledge and skills. Fast-track and intensive, these programs are generally one year or three semesters in duration and offer an executive-style qualification directly relevant to career environments, with the added benefit of networking with like-minded people. Relevant work experience is a prerequisite for entry into this program.
