Research degrees

A Master by Research can be undertaken by students with a bachelor degree with honours or a graduate diploma. In exceptional cases, applicants holding a bachelor pass degree, provided they can demonstrate superior academic achievement and significant work experience, can also be considered for admission to master degrees.

To be considered for admission to a doctoral degree (PhD), a student must have a master degree or a bachelor degree with first or upper second class honours from either Curtin or a recognised Australian or overseas tertiary institution. The content of the degree is determined in consultation with the graduate studies committee in the Faculty.

A Doctor of Creative Arts (DCA) offers the possibility to do both creative production and research. The final outcome is a creative piece of work combined with an exegesis. The content of the degree is determined in consultation with the graduate studies committee in the Faculty.

The Professional Doctorate programs provide graduates with intensive training through a mix of coursework and research for professional application. Candidates are expected to be working in their field of interest. The research topic will be selected on the basis of industry needs, originality and areas of expertise of the candidate.
