Senior Art Director
Bachelor Arts (Creative Advertising)
I chose Curtin because the technology aspect attracted me. It sounded like a university that was forward thinking.
I had a very positive experience. The design school had wonderful lecturers that would always spend time out of classes to help, even on weekends. I know my advertising lecturer Blair McLeish would still give me advice if I called him today.
Winning the top student award in my course gave me a placement at MJB&B Advertising agency. I then took Award School where I was offered a position at The Brand Agency by my current Creative Director, Craig Buchanan. I was an Art Director for 6 years, working on clients such as the RAC, The Sunday Times and Curtin University. I then became a Senior Art Director on account of being the oldest.
Without my degree and the industry experience it gave me, I’d never be where I am today. Without the design units and the intense hours learning how to ‘have an idea’, it’d be very difficult to do my job. If you want to be a creative in advertising, taking this degree will help you to focus and mature.
