Master of Science (Project Management)
Engineering manager, Aker Solutions Oil & Gas Australia

I chose the course because the Masters in Project Management offered direct, structured academic rigour to support my pre existing practical experience. The program was delivered in a professional way by a group of lecturers with real industry experience; I felt that every unit I undertook was contributing directly to my ability to perform my day job.

Every member of staff I encountered at Curtin was committed to providing a quality service to the students, they were all supportive and very giving of their time and knowledge, the support staff, lecturers and unit co-ordinators from all of the schools involved in delivering the program were equally committed.

Along with the academic learning, the journey of self discovery through the combination of technical and engineering units was a highlight, and has left me with a much better understanding of myself.

I graduated in mid 2010 and have continued in my position of engineering manager with Aker Solutions in Perth. Completing the Masters has helped me understand the theory behind much of the practical experience I had gathered in my career so far, it also gave me a number of skills I had not previously had, skills which have helped my to perform better in my role and to understand others more fully.

I would definitely recommend this masters degree to anyone interested in building the academic skills needed to perform at a higher level in project delivery, the course teaches specific project management skills against a background of a mix of work related and academic assignments.
