Designer/Developer at Launchpad Creative
Multimedia Design (Now known as Digital Design)

My overall impression of my course and Curtin as a whole, has been pretty good. The course offers a lot of challenging projects which force you to push further and harder than the last one. The lecturers are more like friends teaching you about awesome design, constantly pushing you to excel and used the industry standards as benchmarks, and if you weren't good enough they would tell you why, and how to fix it. Going to class wasn't a chore and even lectures surpassed my expectations and were never boring.

The atmosphere, friends I've made and people I've met have been the best highlights - classes were more detached from reality and a good place to just indulge in design and creativity with mates.

I've been working in the Digital Design and Development / Advertising industry. I started off with getting work experience, which turned in to a job, and then moved on to my current job at a multi-disciplined digital agency called Launchpad Creative which I've had for over a year now as a Designer/Developer. I have also started doing freelance work on the side which has lead me to work on some pretty cool projects and meet some awesome people.

It has definitely built up my confidence in speaking in front of an audience and giving presentations. The degree has also helped me look at other creative fields, rather than just focusing on one part of design, and now I've become a generalist focusing on designing and developing websites, motion design, user Interface/user experience, WP7 apps, and all around graphics.

A lot of the people I've been meeting in the industry have actually graduated from the same degree as me (as far as 10 years ago), and they have all branched out in different directions - designers, animators, developers, 3D artists, the list goes on. So I would definitely recommend the degree to others. If you have some idea of what you want to be, then this degree allows you to work on your creative passion, or if you have no idea what you want to do, it allows you to explore the every field with ease.
