I chose Curtin because it was the only university in W.A offering a Fashion and Textiles course. I had done a year of TAFE but wanted a bit of a challenge - a course focussed on the creative and artistic side of trade.
I really enjoyed being at Curtin, I thought my course was great because whilst giving you boundaries, it also let you explore ideas and concepts you were interested in. I do remember thinking the drive out there and back was long though!
Obviously working towards the graduation show was the highlight of my time spent at Curtin. It was a lot of work but I learnt a lot too. I thought the staff where great. Each lecturer had certain areas of knowledge so you always knew who to head for if you wanted certain advice or feedback. The fashion and textiles department have also been very supportive of project undertaken after my degree. THANKYOU!
Since graduating I have started my own womens-wear label, so I didn’t really have to interview anyone else! I decided I was the best person for the job.
My degree has definitely given me a creative edge that I wouldn’t have had. I think you also realise at Curtin that what you put in, you get back out of a project. I would highly recommend the fashion and textiles programme to any future students!
