Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) through regional education and online delivery

As a mature aged student I found going back to study very daunting at first and coupled with being a regional student the challenge was on from day one.

The support of my family (3 adult children and a professional husband) provided the support at home I needed to achieve. The staff at the Curtin Midland Annex, as well as the other students at Curtin, were my backbone and inspiration I needed to continue when the times got tough.

I found my first 3 years at the Curtin Midland Annex as a time to build my self esteem and to build friendships which have sustained me throughout the course. I found the lecturing staff to be very supportive at every step of my academic journey. The other students provided the competitive and supportive nature I needed to do well. A pass was never good enough.

As a group of students, we have developed a strong network/relationship and although distance is a factor we keep in touch via e-mails and phone calls to ensure the all important ear and advice is there when needed.

In my last year the Curtin Midland Annex was not available for my study and I completed my study through online delivery. To say I was apprehensive is an understatement, I had issues which I felt would discriminate against me (e.g. slow broadband, old computer and perception of lack of contact). After having undertaken the online delivery I found that the support was still there and the freedom to join the session and being able view the lecturer again beneficial.

I have enjoyed my study at Curtin University and the friendships I have made will go with me throughout my teaching career.

Thank you to all the students and staff that have contributed to my successful completion of the Bachelor of Education (ECE).
