Elisabeth Rosinel
Elisabeth Rosinel
Teacher at Alliance Francaise
Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education
Elisabeth arrived in Perth 5 years ago, she studied in several institutions.
I chose Curtin because I was looking for a university that offered the possibility to teach in French and Japanese in Australia. Curtin University runs this programme, and I know the courses are flexible.
Curtin has a Bridging Course. This programme enabled me to refresh my English before getting into the Graduate Diploma in secondary Education.
I attend courses 9 hours a week but I have a lot of personal work to do. As part of my degree, I will have work experience. Among the courses I am attending, one is designed to prepare the students to teach to kids with specific needs. Teachers also organise classroom situations that we can be involved into to prepare us to be teachers.
Lecturers are very professional and know what they talk about. Some of them do not only teach at Curtin but also run schools in Perth or are teachers in some schools. Our lecturers consider us more like colleagues than students.
Lecturers at Curtin care more about us than the lecturers I had in France. Curtin University has a full range of services which is greatly appreciated.
My degree is going to help me getting a Permanent Visa to live and work in Australia.
I lived in big cities like Paris and New York. I enjoy Perth because the city is not too big, not too small; there is always something to do. Perth is different from the other cities as people here are very friendly. People are generous and welcoming.
The highlight of my time at Curtin is that I won an Academic Achievement Award when I was preparing my Bridging course
In the future I want to get the Permanent Residency to work as a teacher part-time and develop other professional projects I have.
