I chose to study at Curtin because it was the only degree fashion course in Western Australia at the time. I wanted to gain a higher understanding of the theories and concepts in design work after completing more technical based information at TAFE.

Being given the flexibility to incorporate other units into my degree was instrumental to what I do today. The creative aspect of the course was extremely explorative allowing me a good understanding of creative process.

Curtin University had extremely supportive staff who pushed the creative process. They were brilliant and continue to be: Pamela Gaunt, Anne Farren, and Moira Dorpopoulos. Whilst the course itself at the time was still very much in the incubation stage, I understand that the course is now much more robust.

Since I graduated, my career path has been as follows:

I would definitely recommend this degree to others. It is a quality course with key government support behind it. If the TAFE also developed a manufacturing program for immigrants and the Government encouraged a liberal immigration policy for that particular industry, then WA would have it all stitched up, so to speak.
