The Faculty of Humanities comprises four Schools: Built Environment; Design and Art; Education; and Media, Culture and Creative Arts, as well as a number of nationally and internationally renowned research institutes, centres, and units.

Because of the diversity of the Faculty, social, cultural, and creative research can enter into dialogue with technical and scientific research to find holistic solutions to human problems: solutions that are technically innovative and cost-effective, but also socially and culturally informed, critical, creative, and sustainable.
