Humanities Research Ethics

Ben Joel, the Research Ethics Coordinator for the Faculty of BEAD, welcomes you to the Human Research Ethics Approval System.

All students and staff of Curtin University who intend to carry out research involving humans must apply for ethics approval prior to engaging in the research. This web page has been designed to make accessing the application form and guidelines as simple as possible.

To engage in the process you will need to begin with downloading 'Form C-min-risk' [Application for Approval of Research with Minimal Risk (Ethical Requirements) Form C] and 'HREC two-tier Guidelines'. Please read the documentation carefully, fill in Form C and write the supporting documentation as specified in the Guidelines. Once complete your application will be taken through the following procedure:

1. You will pass the documentation onto your Supervisor or Unit/Course Coordinator who may ask for further clarification or sign it off

2. Your Supervisor or Unit/Course Coordinator will pass the documentation on to Ben Joel.

3. Once reviewed you will be notified of the next step, which may involve one of the following: go ahead with the research, make adjustments and re-submit, using the Form B application or resubmit your proposal through the HREC Form A procedure.

If you require assistance please contact Ben Joel on 9266 2999.
