About the Program
The Curtin Careers Mentoring Program matches senior (final and penultimate year) students to alumni with a minimum two years experience to help students gain skills and confidence in their career planning.
Following a successful pilot in 2009, the Curtin Careers Centre is expanding the Careers Mentoring Program in 2010 and we invite all senior year students to apply. Students are matched with Curtin Alumni with the same or similar degree. This is a great opportunity to speak one-to-one to a professional from your field about how to give yourself a competitive edge. If you want to be ahead of the pack when you graduate, this is the program for you!!
The program will run from April until October and requires approximately 8 contact hours over the 6 months. You will be provided with program materials about career planning to help you kickstart and focus your conversations with your mentor.
Mentors are drawn from alumni and have all volunteered their time to be part of the program. Mentors volunteer for many reasons, but many recall the daunting prospect of making the transition into graduate employment and would like to help current students be better prepared as they progress with their professional careers.
Curtin Careers Centre is conducting 2 information sessions about the Mentoring Program to explain how the program will work and to go through the application process. These sessions will be held at 12.00 on Wednesday of Week 3 & Week 4. Students can book in for either session by through Jobs & Events Connect (via Oasis)
Applications for the Curtin Careers Mentoring Program 2010 open 1 March 2010 and close 1 April 2010.
