International Study Tour – International Perspectives of Planning
An international study tour forms a significant (although optional) component of ‘International Perspectives of Planning’, a core unit of the Urban and Regional Planning course. The study tour is designed to allow students to experience planning in different geographical and cultural contexts through casual observation as well as critical analysis. It incorporates presentations by planning related organisations overseas as well as specified field work. Students are exposed to different perspectives of and approaches to planning issues through organised learning activity as well as through interaction with a ‘foreign’ context first hand. The study tour is designed to focus on not only specific planning concerns but also cultural aspects of the context.
