School of Design and Art
The School attracts art and design students from across Australia and is proud of its ability to graduate artists and designers, many of whom go on to establish international careers. Art and design at Curtin recognises the growing globalisation of culture and prepares its graduates with the intellectual and technical skills needed to excel in a highly competitive contemporary environment. The courses encourage emerging artists and designers to find an individual voice and provide the skills to channel their distinctive qualities into coherent visual languages in a variety of media.
Designers work as problem solvers. They create original visual images; they produce interactive communications, new products and environments.
Art is a critical activity that involves challenging stereotypical attitudes, taking creative risks, embracing healthy scepticism as well as being reflective and responsive.
