Deirdre Nelson, Glasgow.
Deirdre Nelson is a Glasgow based artist whose work stems from her research and interest in social history. She has held several solo shows, been included in group exhibitions, and has worked on numerous commissions and education projects. Whilst Deirdre's work is informed by textiles practice, her work incorporates a broad range of materials and processes.
During her six-week residency Deirdre is based in the Department of Art/Building 202 and will be collaborating with the WA Museum for her research. The WA Museum has generously offered Deirdre accesses to their archives and an exhibition space at the completion of her residency.
Deirdre is keen to collaborate or work with interested students from the Art Department and the Fashion & Textiles course, on a project that may be included in the exhibition at the Museum.
Open Studio Access: 10-3pm Tuesdays or by appointment.

David Sequeira: Eternal rhythms
David Sequeira explores notions of language and information through colour and geometry. A self confessed hoarder, he collects books, vases, flower petals, leaves, orange domestic ware and plastic plates which all find their way into his practice. These objects and their coding through colour act as catalysts to memory and triggers to unseen significance and beauty. They also reveal the artist's humour and playfulness. The exhibition surveys his work over the past thirteen years from his first solo exhibition in 1993. David Sequeira will be working within the University as an Artist-in-Residence during September and October.
