Drawing Intensive

The School of Design and Art at Curtin University is proud to present its third annual Drawing Intensive, a sustained five day master class in the strategies, rationales and skills involved in seeing well and drawing with accuracy, power and expression. The Intensive will address a wide range of issues, prioritising:
- Specific drawing aims for each participant
- The role of mindfulness, clear thinking and smart sequencing
- Refined visual awareness and its application
- Invention
- Improved body awareness in the drawing process and better ergonomics
- Understanding drawing accuracy in observation and expression
The training is intended to provide transferable skills that can also be applied in other mediums. The course is designed to suit professional artists, architects, designers, art teachers and art students. Rapid progress is the aim.
Participants will be guided through this program by two of Western Australia’s most distinguished artists and educators. Numbers are strictly capped to allow for a substantial level of engagement with and guidance from the lecturers. Early booking is therefore advised.

Course Structure
The course will run for 5 consecutive days, from 9am-4pm daily, beginning Monday 27th June.
The Intensive will run as per the daily themes below
Day 1. Eye and hand response training, ergonomic considerations, speed issues.
Day 2. Peripheral vision training in/and compositional strategies. (With Life model)
Day 3. Visualising, memorising, analysing, summarizing. (With Life model)
Day 4. Concision and expression. (With Life model)
Day 5.Individual aspirations.
Cost and Payment
Payment of $680 is to be made via the University Cashier, either attending in person with payment form (and credit card form if appropriate), in Central Admin Building (101). Alternatively, you can fax the filled in payment form and credit card from to Fees on 08 9266 4531 or email to fees@curtin.edu.au.
Please note, on the credit card form please ignore the ‘student number’ request which will not apply to short courses such as the Intensive.

The Art Dept, School of Design and Art, Curtin University. (South Entrance, off Brand Drive). Carpark 9 abuts the Art Dept buildings (212, 202 & 203), and would be a recommended site for parking.
