2011 English/ English Literature Conference

The Department of Communication and Cultural Studies is pleased to present the English/ English Literature Conference 2011 at Curtin University.

The English/ English Literature Conference 2011 presents a program which we believe will be attractive to both students and teachers. The schedule provides a mix of general lectures which address issues of examination techniques, writing and reading strategies, and will include specific texts and writers. Two new lectures, “Contextual Understandings” and “Constructing a Powerful Exam Answer” will cater to both English and English Literature students.

Started by Communication and Cultural Studies in 1986, the English/English Literature Conference has become an important annual feature of Curtin's community activities. It demonstrates the very strong links between the School of Media, Culture and Creative Arts’ Communication and Cultural Studies Program and secondary English and English Literature education.

Each day of the conference, participants can attend lectures on both the English and English Literature syllabus. The lectures complement the excellent work of the English secondary school teachers and reinforce an understanding of the syllabus and focusing on exam tasks and questions. They will also provide a means of offering teachers and students new ways of teaching/understanding texts and genres.

We hope you enjoy and continue to support this year's conference.
