Postgraduate coursework program
Graduate coursework program
If you have already completed a bachelor's degree in another discipline, and want to add Internet knowledge to that degree, then you should consider joining our postgraduate coursework program. This innovative suite of courses is highly flexible, taught part-time or full-time, online or on campus, and designed to enable you to create the right package of learning outcomes to advance your career or knowledge.
Internet Studies first offered its graduate courses in 1999 and has since graduated more than 80 students from across the world. The program continues to provide students with the opportunity to update their skills and knowledge to meet the challenges and opportunities of the age of the Internet, with a particular emphasis on social media and online communication.
Students can study 4, 8 or 12 units, to gain (respectively) a Certificate, Diploma or Masters’ qualification. These units are similar to the ones taken by undergraduate students in a bachelor's degree. However you will be expected to perform at a higher standard and, in the Masters degree, complete a major research project equivalent in length to an honour's dissertation. All of these qualifications interlock so you can start at the certificate level, and move on seamlessly to higher qualifications; or, if your plans change, you can stop part-way through and take out an intermediate award at a lower level.
These courses are not offered through Open Universities Australia but are available either full time or part time, fully online or on campus, directly through Curtin University.
Please note that the course structure and offerings are flexible, enabling you to request variations in emphasis that suit your needs. Note too that students who have already completed the BA (Internet Communications) or a very similar degree may are not eligible for this course and would instead apply for an honours or masters by research degree.
