Welcome to Asian Languages at Curtin!
I am very happy to introduce you to Department of Asian Languages and hope that you’d choose to study an Asian Language and/or Asian Studies major(s) here. Each language is unique and we'd love to help you find the perfect fit for your interests, whether it is for a major or an elective.
Courses of Asian Languages are designed to cover both language and cultural/ communicative studies. In addition to comprehensive language units, we also offer well-integrated non-language units, such as Asian Religion and Philosophy, Business Cultures in Japan and Korea, Communicating with China, Communicating with Asia, Discovering Asia, East Asian Sociolinguistics, Exploring China, Chinese Society and Culture, Indonesian Transformations, Japanese Society and Culture, etc.
Australia has close and continuously expanding economic and social ties with Asia. High language literacy and a solid knowledge of Asian cultures/societies will open up a whole new world for graduates of Asian Languages, with employment possibilities in both Australia and overseas.
