Developing Transcultural Competence

Catering for cultural diversity in the classroom is now mandated in the Australian Curriculum.

This session will introduce participants to some of the broader concepts that govern communication within cultures, particularly with regard to the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions.

About your presenter

Dr Toni Dobinson has worked as an English language teacher in the United Kingdom, Egypt and The Sultanate of Oman. She is employed as a consultant by National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS), a national accreditation board for language teaching centres for overseas students.

For the last twenty years Toni has been a course tutor and moderator for the Cambridge English Language Teaching to Adults qualification which is a pre service teacher education course set up by the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate and offered worldwide by different providers.
