Lower Secondary Mathematics for Out-of-Field Teachers

In a high school? Not originally trained as a maths teacher? Has your principal asked you to teach a maths class next year and you lack confidence? This session will put your mind at ease.

If you’re a teacher who is new to lower secondary mathematics, this intensive session will help, giving you the resources and confidence to tackle your new class next year.

You will explore various topics within the mathematics curriculum, experiment with inquiry-style teaching and use lots of hands-on activities and worthwhile software.

About your presenter

Dr Paul Brown prepares people to become primary or secondary teachers. He was a mathematics teacher for thirty years in state and private schools in three countries.

Paul enjoys teaching and is recognised as a “Lead” teacher or as he says, “I am good at it”. His doctorate focused on assessment of mathematics students and he has written a book on mathematical proof.
