What is WebCT?
WebCT is a Learning Management System (LMS) and is the online learning environment for teaching and learning within Humanities. An online unit on WebCT may contain lecture notes and documents, a discussion board to enable you to interact with fellow students, chat rooms, access to iLectures and also assessment such as quizzes or assignment submission. Your lecturer will let you know if there is an online unit component to the unit/s you are studying at the start of semester.
WebCT Access
If you have never accessed WebCT before, you will need to activate your OASIS account first.
Login to OASIS at http://oasis.curtin.edu.au![]()
Once your account is activated, you simply go to the WebCT Login page whenever you want to login to your online units. Your Username is your student number, and your password is the same password you use for logging into OASIS.
If you have login problems, visit http://webct.curtin.edu.au/curtin_help/login.htm ![]()
Once logged in, you will see your customised 'MyWebCT' page with a list of the units that you are enrolled in and which have an online component. If you can't see a unit on your list that should be there (ie where the lecturer has confirmed that an online component is available) you should contact the unit coordinator/lecturer of the particular unit to add you into it. Remember - not all units you study will have an online component available in MyWebCT. If you are unsure if a unit you are studying is also online you need to contact and ask your lecturer.
Help and More Information
There is a lot of helpful information available about WebCT and how to use it.
Once you have opened a unit website within WebCT, all the pages have a 'help' link at the top of the page which will give you information about using specific components such as the discussion board, chat rooms etc.
