We have strong national and international links with governments, education communities, and the non-government sector and a strong track record of winning external funding to support the important work of our researchers. The Professional Learning Hub promotes research dissemination and demand-driven research collaborations with our education industry partners.

The Applied Linguistics, TESOL and Languages Research Group is one of the main research groups within our School of Education. Applied linguistics defines and addresses real-world problems related to language use and learning. It informs the theory and practice for teaching second and foreign languages.
The areas of expertise of the Education and Pedagogy Discipline Group include critical education studies, curriculum and pedagogy, early childhood education, employability, Indigenous education, educational leadership, learning technologies and online learning, languages, professional and vocational learning, society and culture, special needs education, policy and governance, professional identity and resilience, sustainability, and the visual arts.
The Multimodal Analysis Group specialises in the analysis of language, images and other resources involved in human communication. The research group is working closely with computational scientists in order to develop digital techniques for the analysis of large multimodal datasets.
